Grok Bot as my coach (workouts, food, and the long game)

I wanted accountability without hiring a personal trainer. A dedicated Coach on Grok Bot keeps my training and nutrition honest, logs everything in Notion, and nudges me when life gets noisy.

Main point: I set up a Coach bot on Grok Bot to keep my training and food honest. The win isn't smarter plans, it's continuity.

Fitness apps are great at charts but weak at the messy middle: skipped sessions, travel, or logging the meal anyway. Coach's brief covers strength, mobility, nutrition, sleep, steps and hydration. It's not a doctor, it's a persistent training partner.

Day to day

  • A morning check-in: what's planned, what moved, what to protect
  • After sessions I dictate notes, and Coach logs exercises, sets, RPE and anything that felt off in Notion
  • An honest food log, with suggestions based on what I care about (protein, fibre, energy for evening training)
  • Reminders that respect context, and a weekly review
  • Recovery gets as much attention as heavy lifts
  • If I miss a week, we reset without a guilt monologue

Why Notion

Chat is good for thinking, bad as a record. Notion holds the ledger, so Gerty, my Unplanned assistant, can answer "what did I squat last month?" Fast interface, durable datastore, like my product work.

What surprised me

Human coaches go on holiday and app notifications go quiet after day three. A bot that knows my goals, injuries and schedule picks up on a Tuesday night when I finally log dinner. I still lift the weights. Coach just makes it harder to lie to myself.
